Ethical Considerations in Supporting Research Participants in Ukraine

This webinar will bring provocative discussion and highlight solutions to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

概览

Hosted by the DIA Bioethics Coummunity

The crisis in Ukraine has disrupted the clinical development ecosystem and raised urgent questions around participant safety, continuity of trial participation, and clinical trial integrity within Ukraine and neighboring countries. There are important ethical considerations raised for all stakeholders, such as:

  • How do we prioritize the ethical imperatives of protecting and supporting research participants, and ensuring continuation/completion of the clinical trial (possibly in other countries) so that the contributions of participants are not wasted?
  • Under what circumstances should a trial – or at least trial activities at a particular site - stop?
  • What responsibility do Sponsors have to support research participants when the study conduct is disrupted, and is there an appropriate limit to this support?
  • Is there risk involved in facilitating continuing to support participants at sites in new geographies?

In response to the rapidly evolving crisis in Ukraine and surrounding areas, DIA is offering this complimentary webinar to address ongoing uncertainty for both industry professionals and study participants in need. This session focuses on ethical considerations to prioritize, support, and protect study participants who have been impacted, and how to achieve the continuation/completion of clinical trials.
