A World in Crisis: Global Impacts of the Conflict in Ukraine

The war in Ukraine has brought with it an unprecedented crisis in clinical trials. This is perhaps the first time in history where a country with such a large and important scientific, healthcare, and economic investment in clinical trials has suffered the trauma of war. This new and daily evolving situation challenges our established regulatory, ethics, and Good Clinical Practice standards. It raises new questions about the protection of the vulnerable, the right to inclusion in clinical trials, even access to medicines, adaptive trial designs, and the collection and processing of clinical trial data in a changing environment.

Brought to you by DIA with the Ukraine Clinical Research Support Initiative (UCRSI), this international collaborative webinar series shares the experiences and the challenges faced by investigators, sponsors, ethics committees / IRBs, regulatory authorities and above all patients involved in clinical trials in Ukraine and the region. The series is complementary for DIA members and is intended to bring together the international clinical research community to develop local, regional, and international responses that are appropriate to the urgencies arising in clinical trials during this war and to better prepare responses to future such fundamentally disruptive events to clinical trials in a country or region.

Each Webinar will be one hour in length followed by 30 minutes of member discussion where we welcome our attendees to turn on their camera, unmute their microphones, and share their thoughts/ask questions. We hope you can join the conversation about this important topic.
