UK to donate $1.2B for global fight against HIV, malaria, TB
The UK pledged its support, worth $1.19 billion over three years, to the Global Fund for the fight against HIV, malaria and tuberculosis on a global scale. The deepening economic crisis in Britain was a possible cause for the reduced contribution to the fund since the amount requested from Britain was $2.15 billion during the meeting of G7 member nations in New York last September, where a total of $14.25 billion was pledged, though the UK did not commit then.
