  • Getting to Rotterdam

Rotterdam is easily accessible from various international destinations. Travelers can fly into Schiphol International Airport in Amsterdam, which is about 26 minutes away by high-speed train. Alternatively, Rotterdam The Hague Airport offers direct flights from many European cities and is just a 15-minute drive to the city center. For those coming from nearby countries like Belgium or France, the Eurostar provides a convenient train connection to Rotterdam. Whether by air or rail, reaching Rotterdam is straightforward and efficient.

  • Travelling to Rotterdam by Air

To travel to the Netherlands by plane, most international airlines have very regular flights to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a regular train service will bring you in 25 minutes to Rotterdam train station (see train information below).

An increasing number of European cities provide direct flights to Rotterdam-The Hague Airport. Airlines such as Transavia, British Airways, TUI fly Belgium, TUI fly Netherlands and Corendon offer connections to the Netherlands' second regional airport. From Rotterdam The Hague Airport, you can quickly reach the centre of Rotterdam by taxi or public transport.

Another alternative is to fly to Brussels Zaventem International Airport. From Brussels Zavetem airport, a regular and direct train service will bring you in 2 hours to Rotterdam train station (see train information below).

  • Travelling to Rotterdam by Train

One of the fastest and easiest ways to travel to Rotterdam is by train. Intercity trains from all parts of the Netherlands and the high-speed train (HSL) stop at Rotterdam Central Station.

Seven ICE trains depart daily from Frankfurt and Cologne to the Netherlands. To travel to Rotterdam (Rotterdam Central), you must change at Utrecht Central Station. From Berlin and Hanover, an ICE train departs for Amsterdam every two hours. The fastest connection between Amsterdam, Schiphol, Rotterdam, and Breda is the NS Intercity direct (surcharge applies). From France and Belgium, you can take the Thalys (which runs ten times a day). From Great Britain, you can travel directly with the Eurostar.

Here is an overview of travel times from various cities in Germany and abroad:

    • Amsterdam – 40 minutes – Intercity Direct
    • Schiphol Airport – 25 minutes – Intercity Direct
    • Antwerp – 32 minutes – Thalys
    • Brussels – 1 hour 10 minutes – Thalys
    • Paris – 2 hours 40 minutes – Thalys

  • Travelling to Rotterdam by Car

You can reach Rotterdam Ahoy via the Rotterdam South Ring (A15). If there are any special conditions or roadworks, this is often indicated on the Rotterdam Ahoy website. Before you get in the car, always check vanAnaarBeter or Rotterdam Onderweg to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
