Panel at DIA Annual Meeting to explore leveraging data and analytics to enhance collaboration

The impact of “big data” on the partnerships between contract research organizations (CROs) and clinical trial sponsors will be discussed at the DIA 2014 50th Annual Meeting, June 15 to 19 in San Diego. The “Big Data, Big Impact: New Levels of Strategic Partnerships Between Sponsors-CROs” forum, held on June 17 at 8 a.m. in the San Diego Convention Center, will bring together those working in CROs and their sponsor partners to explore how increased collaboration within today’s data-driven environment can expand capabilities by leveraging new discovery technologies, enhancing clinical trial efficiency and paving the way for clinical breakthroughs.

Big data—the storage and analysis of comprehensive medical, patient, payer and real-world health data sets—can revolutionize collaborations in the life science arenas.

“The meeting will provide the forum to address how the wealth of new data and enhanced analytics can strengthen partnerships between these vital organizations to intelligently approach clinical trial planning and execution and streamline the drug development process,” said Barbara L. Kunz, DIA global chief executive.

The session will be chaired by MaryAnne Rizk, an experienced partnerships and alliances professional and adjunct professor with Stevens Institute of Technology. The panel will feature Brendan Buckley, chief medical officer of ICON, and Gary Thompson, senior director of data sciences and solutions and biometric sourcing at Eli Lilly and Co.
