DIA and Rutgers School of Health Professions Biopharma Educational Initiative Collaboration
The Drug Information Association (DIA) and The Rutgers School of Health Professions Biopharma Educational Initiative (Rutgers-SHP-BEI) are partnering to offer learners a unique opportunity to earn academic credits and continuing education credits simultaneously. The academic credits would be awarded toward either a Certificate in Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance or a MS Degree in Clinical Trial Sciences at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, School of Health Professions Biopharma Program. Rutgers has developed an online companion course, which when taken after completion of DIA’s Drug Safety eLearning Program, will be commensurate with a three credit academic course.*
Learners may register for DIA’s Drug Safety eLearning Program, consisting of six overview modules with assessments, and earn up to 24.25 continuing education credits. The Drug Safety eLearning Program modules include:Module 1: Introduction to Drug Safety
Module 2: Drug Safety Regulatory Requirements
Module 3: Premarketing Clinical Trial Safety
Module 4: Postmarketing Safety Management
Module 5: Basics of Signal Detection and Pharmacoepidemiology
Module 6: Safety Audits and Inspections
Learners will enroll and complete the DIA Drug Safety eLearning Program prior to registering for the Rutgers Drug Safety Companion course. Upon successful completion of each module, the learner will receive a statement of credit which when submitted to the Rutgers Biopharma Educational Initiative course registration site will give the individual access to the corresponding online companion course. The Companion Course, which is offered on an ongoing basis, expands on the content covered in the DIA Drug Safety eLearning Program and includes additional presentations, discussions, assignments and a final assessment.
How Do I Enroll?
Register for DIA's Drug Safety eLearning Program through the DIA website, and upon successful completion, receive up to 24.25 continuing education credits. Up to one year after you complete the DIA Drug Safety eLearning Program you may then present your statements of credit, during the course registration on the Rutgers Biopharma Educational Initiative site as you register for access to the self-paced online companion course, for which you have up to six months to complete.
Visit the Rutgers School of Health Professions Biopharma Educational Initiative website or contact Dr. Doreen Lechner, Program Director at email@example.com.
* Learners must purchase and complete all six modules in the DIA Drug Safety eLearning Program to be eligible to complete the Rutgers Biopharma Drug Safety Companion Course and subsequently apply for admission to the Certificate in Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance or a Master of Science in Clinical Trial Sciences program. Due to the competitiveness of the Rutgers Biopharma programs completion of the Rutgers Drug Safety Companion Course does not guarantee admission into their program.
