Getting Around

Information on getting to the San Diego Convention Center and navigating the city during DIA 2027.

Taxi Service

Several taxi providers offer service to/from the airport. Follow the signs leading to the Transportation Plazas, on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level adjacent to each terminal.

Taxi fares from the airport to the Convention Center and downtown hotels are based on trip distance and may vary. If you are traveling from the airport, a $2.00 surcharge will be added to your final total. The average fare is approximately $20.

Visit Taxi Fare Finder for fare information throughout San Diego.

Lyft & Uber

Lyft and Uber are well established in San Diego and can service San Diego International Airport and the surrounding downtown area, including the Convention Center.

Airport Shuttles

Shuttle service is available to/from downtown San Diego hotels, the Gaslamp area, and the Convention Center. Shuttles depart from the Transportation Plazas across from Airport Terminals 1 and 2.

  • From Terminal 1, cross the skybridge and take the escalators to street level
  • From Terminal 2, use the pedestrian crosswalk outside the Baggage Claim Area to reach the Transportation Plaza

A Customer Service Representative will place you with the first available shuttle unless you specify a particular shuttle company.

Visit the SAN website for recommended shuttle companies and their contact information.

MTS Trolley

MTS Trolley is a light-rail system operating on three lines — Blue, Orange, and Green — throughout San Diego. Two trolley stations are located directly across the street from the Convention Center, providing convenient service around downtown and connections to Mission Valley hotels and shopping malls.

Route maps and ticket machines are posted at each trolley station. Fares are based on trip distance; round-trip fares range from $2.50 to $6.

FRED San Diego

FRED (Free Ride Everywhere Downtown) is an electric, open-air, free shuttle service covering downtown San Diego. Download the app via the FRED San Diego website and request a driver. FRED seats five passengers. Check the website for current hours of operation.
