The Evolution of DIA
Sixty-three years ago, thirty people saw a problem the industry couldn't solve alone. They built the table. We're still at it.
DIA Is Founded
In the wake of the Thalidomide crisis, 30 pharmaceutical professionals, medical writers, and academics recognized that the industry needed a neutral place to work through its hardest problems together. DIA was built to be that place, and has been ever since.
Global Expansion
DIA enters a period of global growth and expansion to support ICH and the scientific evaluation of medicines efforts, establishing formal offices in the US, Switzerland, and Japan. DIA members form a Community to define global data standards used in medical research, which leads to the formation of the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC).
Global Membership Growth
DIA membership expands globally to over 80 countries, with local offerings to Latin America, Canada, Korea, China, India, the Middle East and Singapore. DIA relaunches Drug Information Journal as Therapeutic Innovation & Regulatory Science.
DIA Reimagined for the Future
DIA 2027 represents the next evolution—enhanced learning formats, expanded networking, and innovative programming like the LIFT Series, while maintaining the power of in-person connection.
