As the recent pandemic has demonstrated, public health and effective healthcare systems should be a cornerstone of a sound national strategy and policy. Several studies show that a healthy population equals a wealthy nation. Face-to-face current and upcoming demographic challenges, increasing prevalence and incidence of several diseases, the governments will have to reconsider their policies in this area and update their healthcare systems. However, the performance gap between European standard and South-Eastern Europe reality is significant, how to close this gap and who can support the countries?

This session will delve into the correlation between investment in healthcare systems and healthcare resilience, share key learning and case studies from selected EU countries, while exploring key features of healthcare resilience.
