Session Chair(s)
Deirdre McCarthy, MSc
Senior Director, Pharmacovigilance and Safety Operations
Allovir, United States
Artificial intelligence and intelligent automation have been widely touted to be ‘game changers’ for the field of Pharmacovigilance. In this session, we will review progress made to date on ‘low-hanging fruit’– daily activities which are repetitive and high volume and are ideal targets for automation. We will also hear about the regulators’ perspective of data collected and managed in this way, as well as examine how changing how we do the fundamental processes of drug safety will affect the role of the PV Scientist in future.
Learning Objective : At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
- Discuss recent key developments in PV automation and AI in the fields of case identification, intake, and processing
- Describe the regulatory perspective on new approaches and new methodology
- Discuss how these changes might affect the make-up of a typical PV department and the types of skill sets needed in future
