Barbara Lopez Kunz serves as President and Global Chief Executive of DIA, driving thought leadership and innovation in therapeutic development to improve the health of people worldwide. She previously served as President of Health and Life Sciences at Battelle, one of the world’s largest, most respected R&D organizations. She has also served as Senior Vice President/General Manager for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Biosciences Division, as SVP for DuPont, and head of R&D for ICI. A dedicated volunteer for children's health, Barbara chairs the board of Children's National Research Institute, serves as advisor to the UC I4H Fellowship, and as Director for Aptevo Therapeutics.

Bayard G. Gardineer

Bayard G. Gardineer, MS, CPA, serves as Interim Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance, responsible for overseeing DIA's global finance and information technology operations. He previously served as DIA CFO from 2013-2019. Before DIA, Mr. Gardineer was responsible for oversight of more than $50 million in annual revenue and $50 million in assets, and for raising more than $50 million in humanitarian relief, as CFO of one of the largest regional chapters of the American Red Cross. Mr. Gardineer is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and was recognized in 2009 by The Philadelphia Business Journal and Drexel University LeBow College of Business as Nonprofit CFO of the Year.

Bill Allman

Bill Allman is Chief Digital Officer (CDO), developing and implementing DIA’s digital strategy to create digital products/services that enhance DIA’s global impact. Previously the CDO of Smithsonian Enterprises, Mr. Allman has been cited as one of the "100 most innovative CDOs globally”. He was also VP of Digital Media for Bonnier Corp, Chief Content/Creative Officer for HealthCentral.com, SVP & GM of Interactive Media for Discovery.com, and founding GM for US News & World Report. Mr. Allman began his career as a journalist, helping create Science 80, an award-winning publication of the AAAS. He has written three books on evolution, brain science, and the science of sports, and has a BA in English and a BS in Biology from Brown University.

Timothy Hess

Global Director of IT

Timothy Hess serves as Global Director of IT, responsible for DIA’s global IT operations, computer infrastructure, customer and membership management databases, and website. He previously served as Director of Business Technology for Thomas Publishing Company LLC, where he managed all internal business systems, production systems, and technology projects; and as Vice President &Chief Technology Officer for Content Data Solutions, Inc., and as R&D Director for Reed Technology & Information Services. A proven technology thought leader with extensive experience in delivering high-performance systems that solve complex business problems in all development environments, Mr. Hess earned his computer science degree from Arcadia University.

Ania Mitan

Senior Vice President & Managing Director, DIA EMEA, India and Singapore

Ania Mitan serves as the Senior Vice President & Managing Director, DIA EMEA, India and Singapore. She is former Executive Director of the commercial organization at Celgene, where she built the oncology business in the EMEA region with healthcare partners to shape quality delivery systems and new commercialization models in personalized medicine, specifically with novel cell and gene therapies. She began her career at Eli Lilly and Company, serving as Head of Commercial Development for EU mid-size countries, Head of Primary Care Business Unit for the UK and Ireland, and Head of Marketing for the Critical Care Unit. Ania earned her MBA from Simmons College and MSc in Pharmacy from Silesian Medical Academy (Poland).

Hajime Saijo

Hajime “Jim” Saijo, PhD, MBA, is the Sr. VP, managing director of DIA Japan. He previously established and lead the Academia Clinical Research Division, CMIC K.K., as Corporate Officer managing clinical research and investigator sponsored clinical trials. Dr. Saijo’s experience also includes serving as Director of R&D for Alcon Japan; Director of R&D and Representative Director for start-up operations of Ferring Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd.; and as VP of Medical, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs for Japan & APEC for OvaScience. Dr. Saijo earned his PhD in Medical Science from Tokyo Medical and Dental University Graduate School of Medicine and Dentistry, and his MBA in Business Administration from Temple University Business School, Japan Campus.

Tong-Yan Wang

Tong-Yan brings 20+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a track record of business leadership and development, engagement with stakeholders across industry and government, and volunteer leadership experience in non-profit associations. She joins DIA after spending 4 years as the CEO of Sanpower Group to build up its healthcare business. Before Sanpower, she worked in Xi’an Janssen in various roles under General Med, Specialty Rx, and Market Access & Government Affairs. Tong-Yan started her career as a professor at Xian Medical University after receiving her Bachelor of Medical Science degree. She earned her MBA from Xian Jiao Tong University and her PhD in Management from ISCTE in Lisbon, Portugal.

Robin M. Weinick

Senior Vice President & Managing Director, DIA Americas

Robin M. Weinick, PhD. brings 25 years of experience to her DIA role as Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Americas, and Global Program Officer.Robin joins DIA from RTI International, a large, nonprofit research institute dedicated to improving the human condition. She also has served as Associate Director for Health at the RAND Corporation, a premier U.S.-based think tank, and on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. She began her career in federal service with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She holds a B.A. in Health and Society from the University of Rochester and a Ph.D. on Population Dynamics from Johns Hopkins University.
