Cancer Clinical Trials in Ukraine: The Impact of the War on the Patients, the National Clinical Research Framework, and the Region

Complimentary for DIA members, this global webinar series shares the clinical trial challenges in Ukraine and the region. Join us to create strategies for the future.

Perspectiva general

This webinar examines important questions in clinical trials as they arise in the context of the war in Ukraine and its effects on clinical care and patients’ access to treatments in cancer. Clinical trials in oncology represent the largest subset of clinical trials performed in Ukraine. This is in many ways due to the number of well qualified Ukrainian oncologists and oncology units. Cancer clinical trials also make important contributions to the treatment and care of cancer patients, providing experimental and state-of-the-art cancer treatment and helping to develop appropriate treatment and care protocols for this highly prevalent disease. During the war in Ukraine we have seen a strong dedication by investigators, the regulatory authorities, sponsors, CROs, and the international medical community to support ongoing care for cancer patients, including those patients displaced internally or to third countries by the war. This webinar focuses on cancer survival and the survival of oncology trials during the war. It is a story of wartime heroism by patients, by doctors and scientists, by government authorities, and by an international community dedicated to supporting health and science even in the most demanding and dire conditions.
