Insights from data analysis lie at the heart of business strategy. Historically, data was paper-based and filed by department and was consequently hard to access and evaluate. Despite an evolution to electronic data storage, most companies do not regularly assess data synthesized from multiple sources, thereby losing an opportunity to gain cross-departmental insights on a drug or family of compounds. This narrow focus represents a loss of value. Medical information (MI) departments are often the first port of call for a customer with a product-related question throughout the product life-cycle. Customers, including physicians, pharmacists and patients, contact MI departments on topics such as off-label use, stability, compatibility, administration, available clinical trials, drug supply, information on allergens and suspected adverse events etc. Despite extensive interactions with customers and systematic, global documentation of all information, the data collected by MI teams is frequently not used by the business, being used merely to identify the need for standard response documents.
This webinar will focus on the wealth of MI data and its’ value for a company, show how to demonstrate the value of MI across an organization by highlighting key considerations for approaching peers in other departments, including commercial and senior leadership, to successfully position MI as a critical business partner. Examples of effective MI data visualization and of how MI insights were successfully used, by other departments to better meet customer needs, will also be shown. The presenters will also speak about how big data may influence MI departments and the business in the future. The goal is to demonstrate how to use insights gained in MI departments across the business to best address customer needs.
