Enterprise Ontology Approach to System Implementation and Process Development to Minimize Organizational Disruption

Overview

An ontology defines a common vocabulary for groups who need to share information in a domain and includes machine-interpretable definitions of basic concepts in the domain and relations among them. Originally developed for artificial intelligence applications, ontologies are increasingly used in business, biological, and medical settings to drive modeling, integration, and analysis of data from multiple sources.

The increasing demands for global implementation of evolving regulations place a strain on biopharmaceutical and device companies. Putting new systems or changes in place without understanding the impact on functional groups such as regulatory operations and document management can propagate inefficiencies within and among systems.

Enterprise ontology methods can enhance systems integration and optimize efforts with impact across the organization. This webinar will explore how these methods, based on the work by Professor Jan Dietz, can be used to facilitate the implementation of system changes in various use cases in the biopharmaceutical industry.
