Patients are now at the very centre of many policy decisions in the context of drug development, assessment and administration. Nevertheless, while the direction of travel is well traced, many are the points still to study in deep in order to have an effective application on patient and healthcare systems. Engaging patients in clinical trials design, including patient representatives in HTA bodies, and improving transparency in decision making are only examples of good practices to encourage.
