ViiV, Medicines Patent Pool in licensing deal for cabotegravir
ViiV Healthcare, a GSK unit, has entered into a voluntary licensing agreement with the Medicines Patent Pool to broaden access to HIV prevention in developing countries. The deal covers patents for long-acting cabotegravir as an HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis, with select generic drugmakers to be granted the chance to develop, manufacture and supply cheaper versions of the drug in 90 countries, subject to regulatory approvals.
